Dear Colleagues,
The specialty of Vascular Surgery continues to develop in the Arab world to address the growing number and needs of the vascular patients in our communities. As such, the number of vascular surgeons and training programs in the various Arab countries continues to expand. Many surgical trainees of Arab descent left their countries of origin to seek advanced vascular training in the western world and remained there for various reasons. Most of them become experts and leaders in the field of vascular surgery and continue to play key roles in advancing the vascular surgical specialty. Most of them cherish coming back to the Arab world, visit family and friends and contribute to the vascular care and education in their homelands.
This society will serve as a great forum to advance vascular care in the Arab world by bringing together the vascular expertise available in the Arab region along with the expertise available in the western world under one umbrella. PAVSS plans to conduct annual meetings in various Arab cities. This will help to bring state of the art care and education to the region. In addition, it will allow exchange of ideas and expertise in the management of complex and common vascular conditions and help address challenges that may be pertinent to our region. Also, the society will help increase public awareness of vascular diseases and their management and drum up national governmental support . As importantly it will give vascular surgeons of Arab descent the opportunity to convey their experience from western countries to our fellows and to strengthen their social relations with each other and discover the beauties available in the various Arab cities. PAVSS can also play a role in supporting the various local national vascular societies in providing any logistical support in their national meetings by facilitating the invitation of speakers or the conduction of workshops.
On behalf of the founding members of PAVSS, I am very pleased to announce the foundation of the Pan Arab Vascular Surgical Society (PAVSS). I encourage you to join PAVSS and be an active participant in its meetings and functions
